Approximately 105 homes are proposed on the land south of Old Banwell Road, Locking, with vehicle access from Old Banwell Road only.
The Framework Masterplan for the land south of Old Banwell Road, Locking
The majority of these homes would be provided at the eastern end, within the field adjacent to the Old Banwell Road / A371 junction. This land lies on steeper terrain, so in order to address the topography sensitively, we are looking at split-level properties, terraced gardens and landscaped garden walls to help integrate development into the slopes. These homes would be accessed via a new junction at the eastern end of Old Banwell Road.
The opportunity also exists for a small number of homes to be provided along Old Banwell Road. These homes and their grounds would extend no further south than the existing homes along the southern side of Old Banwell Road, and would be accessed via three additional new junctions along Old Banwell Road.
No homes are proposed in the north-western corner of the site, the part closest to existing homes. This would be left as open space, with the opportunity to provide a play area here linked to the Playing Fields on the other side of Old Banwell Road. A pedestrian and cycle access would also be provided here, giving Locking residents easy access to the new country park to the south.
